Among the best practices is the establishment of the Round Table on Reconstruction, Peace and Security, made up of representatives from the three levels of federal, state, and municipal government. The aim is to establish direct links with each of the representatives of the security institutions for greater exchange of information and immediate action, at the same time as making inter-institutional communication more effective.

IOM designed this initiative to provide them with better conceptual and practical tools for the formulation of policies, programs and/or actions that promote the safe, orderly, and regular mobility of migrant workers in southern Mexico. Key decision makers from the National Institute for Migration, the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and the National Employment Service participated.

Emphasizing the importance of thinking of children and adolescents as a heterogeneous group, the practical exercise motivated participants to analyze the different experiences, conditions and needs they might be experiencing.

More than 100 people from 24 countries met on August 4 in the "Seminar on International Migration and Local Development: Challenges and Benefits of Good Migration Governance at the Local Level". The activity presented the methodology and experiences around the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI), a comprehensive IOM tool that was created to support countries in the implementation of target 10.7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

During the month of June, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) installed three CAPMIS (Collective Psychosocial Care Groups for Migrants) in the cities of Tapachula, Ciudad Juárez and Tijuana, where government institutions, civil society and international organizations participated. In total, 44 institutions and almost 70 participants were involved. 

Specialists in gender and migration at IOM presented a report with 42 recommendations that, if implemented, will allow a more adequate economic, labour and social integration of migrant women in two key migration corridors in the state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico. The experts found that there is currently in the state an incipient feminization of migration and a growing active and independent mobility of women that has been gaining visibility due to multiple causes.
